The hero-heroine both loved each other but misunderstandings got them. But I got confused sometimes when the author suddenly started the backstory then again switched it to the recent.

In walks the hero who announces he's buying the business and marrying the heroine. When the story opens the heroine, who married the EC in the hero's absence, is getting the news that the business is bankrupt six months after her husband's death. He's the spoiled only child of the hero's rich uncle and he's a violent alcoholic. Unfortunately there is an Evil Cousin who wants whatever the hero wants. Hero leaves to make his fortune and asks heroine to wait a couple of years for him. Hero is few years older than the sixteen year-old heroine and while he is wildly attracted to her, they never have sex.
